This course, based on a national framework, is designed to provide students with both knowledge and understanding in a range of major Social Science disciplines. In addition, stutents will be assisted to develop analytical skills and practical competence in research methodology, data processing and reporting skills.
Candidates who have already completed an HNC Social Science or HND Social Science Year 1 programme at another college may be eligible for direct entry to Year 2. Completion of HND Social Science Year 2 can provide direct entry to Year 2 or Year 3 of related degree programmes.

Candidates should normally have completed 15 credits from the HND Social Science framework, including all of the 'core' HND 1 credits (Research & Methodology, Psychology A, Sociology A, Sociology B and Graded Unit 1). Part time candidates who have not yet completed 15 credits should discuss direct entry options with the course organiser.
Direct entry to Year 2 will be at the discretion of the course organiser. Candidates who have not achieved 15 HND 1 credits may be required to enrol on a part time basis in order to achieve these prior to entering HND 2.
