Core Skills

A wide variety of skills and qualities are used in education and training, in work and in life.

Within this, a set of skills acknowledged as being 'core' to personal development and performance have been identified.

These core skills are:

  • Communication
  • Numeracy
  • IT
  • Problem Solving
  • Working with Others

Stow College recognises the importance of developing the core skills of its learners to allow them to fully participate in the vocational elements of their chosen course.

Opportunities for the development of these and other skills such as enterprise and citizenship will be made available, as appropriate, in all Stow College programmes. Additional support for the development of core skills will also be provided through ‘The Hub’.
