The Hub

We realise that coming to College can be a very difficult experience for some people, particularly if you are returning to study after a number of years.

You may find that you need some support to gain the qualification you want. The Hub located on the third floor of the Stow City campus is the centre for a range of services specifically designed to support learning for all students. These include:

Learning Support

One to one and/or small group support will be available for any student requiring assistance and may be on a short term or an ongoing basis. A range of resources including specialised software is available.

Extended Learning Support

Some students with disabilities/learning difficulties may require extra help in order to get the most out of their studies. For these students Extended Learning Support is available and is organised and administered through The Hub.

Extended Learning Support is provided to meet the needs of those students with, for example:

  • Specific learning difficulties eg. dyslexia
  • Visual impairment
  • Hearing impairment
  • Physical disability/mobility
  • Health difficulties
  • Social/emotional/behavioural difficulties.

We want to help so please remember to let us know what your needs might be as early as possible.

Whatever you tell us will be treated with respect and consideration and, as far as is practicable, in confidence. More advice on this is available from our Learner Support Officer.

Tutorial Classes

Tutorial classes in key subjects are organised from the Hub and are available to all students. Particular emphasis is given to the ‘Core Skills’.

Workshops in study skills, CV preparation and University application via UCAS are provided throughout the College Session.

More and more resources to support your learning are also available on-line so that they may be accessed when you most need them. More information on these is available from the Hub.
