This twelve week, part time programme runs from March – June 2013 and offers an introduction into Social Sciences and Care. The course is aimed at learners with few or no academic qualifications – you may be a mature student considering a return to study after a break, or a younger student looking for the next steps after leaving school.
The course is at Intermediate 1 level and will offer qualifications in SQA units in Contemporary Issues, Understanding Society and Values and Principles in Care. In addition, you will be supported to identity and prepare for volunteering experience in the care sector, or to gain credit for existing voluntary work.
This course is offered on a part time basis, up to 13 hours per week. Success on the Steps to Social Science & Care programme can lead on to full or part time study in Social Science or Care in August 2013.
Benefits are not affected and learners may be eligible for help with childcare and travel costs.
If you are under 18 and living at home, you will receive a fee waiver if your parents/guardians receive benefits and/or tax credits. You should discuss this with your parents/guardians before applying.
If you do not receive any benefits or tax credits then you may be required to pay fees for this course.
