Pathways: Social Science & Care (Part Time)

This is a part time programme designed to introduce learners with few or no formal qualifications to Social Science and Social Care. This course is suitable for learners considering progressing to full or part time Access or NC programmes in Social Science and Care in August 2012, or who are looking for entry-level employment in the care sector.

The course will give learners a flavour of college life with units in Contemporary Issues, Psychology and Sociology for Care, Socialisation, and Care Skills. This course is particularly suitable for adults returning to education after a break, particularly those with some experience of caring for others, but enquiries from all learners are welcome.

This course is offered on a part time only basis (max 13 hours per week) for one 12 week term. You can choose to do all of the units or only a few, depending on your interests and circumstances. Benefits are not affected and learners may be eligible for help with childcare and travel costs.

If you are under 18 and living at home, you will receive a fee waiver if your parents/guardians receive benefits and/or tax credits. You should discuss this with your parents/guardians before applying.

If you do not receive any benefits or tax credits then you may be required to pay fees for this course.
