The SWAPWest Access to medical studies, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine and Science programme provides an entrance qualification to the University of Glasgow to study degrees in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine. In addition the programme provides progression routes to Pharmacy at Strathclyde University, Biomedicine at Glasgow Caledonian University and a wide range of science degrees with the University partners mentioned as well as University of the West of Scotland, Stirling University and SRUC (the Agricultural College).
The programme has been developed for adults returning to higher education and who have not previously studied to university degree level. Candidates should have experience in their related field of study. Prior study of chemistry and biology is required due to the intense nature of the study on this SWAP programme. Applicants should detail their experience on their application form; a relevant reference detailing experience will be required prior to interview. Entry on to the programme is decided after interview(s) in partnership with the Scottish Wider Access Programme. Please note places are restricted and early application is strongly advised.
The programme is not suitable for graduates who should contact medical schools to consider graduate entry programmes.

There are no formal academic prerequisites however applicants should preferably have a gap in their formal education. Appropriate work experience useful. Applicants should be able to demonstrate career progression and be in a responsible position.
Successful applicants progressing to university in health related areas will need to satisfy criteria outlined by the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) (Scotland) Act 2007.
Admission is by informal panel interview.

Can also lead to any Degree, HND or HNC courses in Biological, Environmental Health and Life Sciences in Colleges and Universities in the West of Scotland.
