Mechanical Engineering: HND
This programme is intended to provide students with the technical education required to compete on level academic terms with senior technicians. The syllabus covers a broad-based engineering spectrum including design, production and plant subjects with an emphasis on hands-on instructions on computer applications in engineering.

Entry Requirements
Higher Mathematics OR an appropriate range of SQA NC modules or NQ units OR other relevant qualifications and experience. Entry by informal interview.
Course Content
Material Selection; Thermofluids; CAD; Engineering Mechanics; Pneumatics & Hydraulicas; Design; Project.
Duration
HNC: 1 academic year HND: 2 academic years
August - June
18 hours
“I was always good at dismantling things, putting them back together and figuring out why they work. It never occurred to me to think about a career in engineering, but I am really enjoying the course and I can’t believe I never thought to do this the first time round. The course covers subjects such as thermal fluids, gas flows, engineering principles and metals. I’ve always been fascinated by cars and plan to further my studies at uni in motorsport design engineering.”
