Computing: Games Development: HNC

Do you want to become

  • Become a Software Engineer
  • Learn to Write Computer Games
  • Gain entry into 2nd year BSc Games Software Development.

The aim of the course is to lead to employment or further studies.

If you wish to further your studies when you finish the course, then the HNC award may allow progression into various university computing degree courses; particularly Glasgow Caledonian University, and the University of The West of Scotland.

The course covers a variety of subjects such as:

  • C# and Java Programming Languages
  • 3D Modelling & Animation
  • Game Project

The course includes event driven programming. You’ll see how to create logic games, 2D games and 3D First Person Shooter games.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, the following as a minimum prior to entry:

  • 2 Higher Grades (bands A - C), one of which must be Mathematics; 2 further Standard Grades (bands 1 - 3) OR
  • Intermediate 2 (bands A - C); English or Communication at Standard Grade (band 1 - 3) OR
  • Intermediate 2 (band A - C).

Candidates 25yrs or over may be accepted with lower qualifications, subject to relevant computing experience.

Can lead to:
Employment as Games Programmer/Modeller. Second year entry to Degree programmes at Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of the West of Scotland.
