
Civic Reception - a great success and highly enjoyed by those who attended.
On Friday, 12 March 2010 at 7.00pm in The Banqueting Hall, City Chambers, Glasgow, Stow College held a Civic Reception, hosted by Glasgow City Council, to mark the fantastic achievement of Stow College winning the 2009 Scottish Award for Business Excellence; a year which also marked the 75th anniversary of Stow College.
The event was attended by approximately 100 students, staff and key stakeholders of Stow College including the former Lord Provost Alex Mosson.
Baillie Jim Scanlon gave the opening remarks and the evening commenced with a number of musical performances ie Stow College student, John Sturgeon, girl group named ‘Aura’ featuring Stow College student Angel Wade, Academy of Music and Sound student, Tony Etherson and Stow College staff member Tom Watson and his associate Tom Gallagher; group named Swing Guitars.
The background music playing during the event was by some of the artists and bands produced by Stow College’s Music and Creative Industries department ie Belle and Sebastian, Snow Patrol and Biffy Clyro.
The evening ended with a group of students from first year of the HND Professional Stage Dance course who performed the Michael Jackson Thriller dance with great energy, enthusiasm and distinction.
All in all the evening was a great success and highly enjoyed by those who attended.
