AquaFund Update

AquaFund Thanks Stow College for Contributions

Thank you Stow College for bringing fresh water and sanitation to over 22,000 people in Mali through AquaFund.

WaterAid and ADSM would like to thank Stow College for making a significant contribution to WaterAid’s projects in Mali in West Africa, one of the poorest countries in the world. Through donations from AquaFund® the charity was able to bring clean water to 17,682 people and ensure 22,861 people have access to adequate and safe sanitation facilities.

Rosie Morris from WaterAid said “I would like to thank Stow College and ADSM for contributing to WaterAid through the AquaFund® scheme. Your continued involvement with AquaFund® has enabled us to improve the lives of thousands of people through the provision of clean water and adequate sanitation.”

WaterAid focussed its work on 12 communities where families were surrounded by raw sewage, drank unsafe water from polluted sources and were affected by water-related diseases like cholera and dysentery. Gathering water was a daily task that could take several hours and many children were missing school.

The charity installed a number of latrines, wells, standpipes and rainwater harvesting systems at homes and schools across the communities. It also spread the message about clean water and safe sanitation across the country to hundreds of rural communities.
