Social Science: HND
The course, based on a national framework, is designed to provide students with both knowledge and understanding in a range of major Social Science disciplines. In addition students will be assisted to develop analytical skills and practical competence in research methodology, data processing and reporting skills.
The course normally takes 36 months. Candidates can discuss individual requirements with the course organiser and create a timetable that suits individual needs and commitments.
Entry Requirements
Ideally 2 Higher Grade passes one of which should demonstrate good communication skills. Alternatively a range of SQA NC modules or NQ units (or equivalent) supported by relevant work experience. Entry by informal interview and written assessment.
Course Content
An appropriate programme will be prepared drawing on Politics, Sociology, Psychology and History as well as Research Skills and Criminology.

As well as leading to employment opportunities in the public and voluntary sectors the course articulates with a number of programmes in Higher Education. Successful completion of the HND programme can lead to direct entry to Year 2 or Year 3 of a degree programme.
