Network Technology: PDA Advanced Certificate

The Advanced Certificate in Network Technology provides excellent preparation to gain a strong foothold in the field of network administration. Students will learn to install, configure and operate LAN, WAN and Dial Access Services for small networks (100 nodes or fewer), using technologies such as: IP, IGRP, Serial Communications, Frame Relay, RIP, VLANs, Ethernet and Access Control Lists. Successful completion of the course will enable students to sit the Cisco Certified Network Associate vendor examination.

Entry Requirements

Industry related experience OR 1 Higher (grades A-C) OR appropriate SQA modules or units (including evidence of numeracy and computing skills). Applicants over 18 may be accepted with lower qualifications.

Network Technology; Routing Technology; Switching Technology; Internetworking Technology.

1 academic year
August - June
8 hours (plus recommended 6 hours self study)

Can lead to:
Progression to Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). Employment: Network Administrator, Technician.
