The Science and Health Department is a leading provider of Science vocational education in the West of Scotland and this is reflected in our wide range of courses from NQ (National Qualifications) to HNC (Higher National Certificate) level. Automatic progression within the College to the next higher level is guaranteed for successful students and students may enter or leave at any point. We specialise in the areas of Biomedicine, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, General Biology, Health Studies and Applied Science. Students aspiring to a career in Nursing or Health are offered a wide range of options including a 1 year programme specially designed for those with few (or no) formal qualifications, or who would like to take a little longer to meet pre-university requirements. Successful students can expect to gain entry to NQ level Science programmes or HNC Health Care. Our Access to Health Studies programme provides the necessary level of achievement for successful students to gain University entry to Nursing Degrees or to enter Health Care professions. The suite of Advanced courses at HN (Higher National) level has been designed to allow students to gain direct entry to first or second year of Science (and other) degree programmes. We also offer the 1st Year BSc programme for students intending to progress to Science at the University of the West of Scotland, These students take exactly the same examinations as those at the University and are guaranteed progression to Year 2 at the Paisley campus if successful. Please note that most of the courses listed in each subject area commenced in August 2009. Many of the courses will also be available from August 2010.
